Gold Price Crosses NPR 300,000 per Tola, Silver Hits Record High

On Friday, January 23, 2026 (Magh 9), gold and silver prices in the Nepali market surged to historic highs, creating new records. Driven by global market trends and increased demand for safe-haven assets, the price of gold crossed NPR 300,000 per tola for the first time. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association, fine gold was traded at NPR 301,400 per tola on the day, marking an increase of NPR 9,200 compared to the previous trading session. On Thursday, gold had been traded at NPR 292,200 per tola.

Silver prices also witnessed a sharp rise, setting a new all-time high. On Friday, the price of silver increased by NPR 270 per tola to reach NPR 6,190. This surpassed the previous record of NPR 5,880 set earlier in Magh. In the previous session, silver was traded at NPR 5,870 per tola. The simultaneous surge in both gold and silver prices highlights the growing appeal of precious metals in the domestic market amid global economic uncertainty.
