NEPSE Slips Slightly as Trading Volume Declines

On Wednesday, the benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed marginally lower, continuing the downward trend seen on Tuesday. The NEPSE index declined by 1.64 points to settle at 2,681.50. Similarly, the Sensitive Index dropped by 0.70 points, while both the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index fell by 0.19 points each.
Along with the index, total trading volume also decreased. While the market recorded transactions worth NPR 8.63 billion on Tuesday, Wednesday’s turnover stood at NPR 7.49 billion. A total of 16.68 million shares of 326 companies were traded through 80,422 transactions during the session.
Four companies traded at the positive circuit level on the day. Shares of Kalinchok Darshan, Super Mai Hydropower, Super Madi Hydropower, and Ankhu Khola Hydropower recorded maximum gains. Meanwhile, Corporate Development Bank gained 7 percent, while Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company rose by more than 6 percent.
On the downside, HLI Large Cap Fund recorded the highest loss of the day, with its unit price declining by 5.54 percent. In terms of turnover, Ankhu Khola Hydropower led the market with transactions worth NPR 800.77 million. It was followed by SY Panel Nepal with around NPR 650 million and Radhi Bidyut Company with over NPR 260 million in trading value.
Out of the 13 sub-indices, seven ended in positive territory while six closed lower. The Finance sub-index posted the highest gain of 0.93 percent. Development Bank, Hotels and Tourism, Hydropower, Investment, Non-Life Insurance, and Trading sub-indices also recorded modest growth during the session.
