Stock Market Rallies on Week’s Final Day, NEPSE Posts Strong Gains

The stock market closed higher on Thursday, the final trading day of the week, reversing losses seen over the previous two sessions. The benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose by 27.19 points to settle at 2,708.70. The Sensitive Index gained 4.47 points, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index increased by 2.06 and 1.75 points respectively.

Trading activity also improved significantly. Total turnover surged to over NPR 11.58 billion, compared to NPR 7.49 billion in the previous session. A total of 355 million shares were traded through more than 108,000 transactions involving 326 listed companies.

During the session, shares of Kalinchowk Darshan, Super Mai Hydropower, and Modi Energy hit their upper circuit limits. Similarly, Ridi Power and Khanikhola Hydropower rose by nearly 10 percent, while Ghalemdi Hydro recorded a gain of more than 9 percent. In contrast, Super Madi Hydropower declined by the maximum limit of 10 percent.

In terms of trading volume, Union Hydropower topped the list with transactions worth NPR 587.7 million, followed by Radhi Bidyut Company and SY Panel Nepal. Among the 13 sectoral indices, 12 ended in positive territory, while the trading sector posted a marginal decline. The “Others” and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices recorded the highest growth at 1.98 percent.
