Kathmandu, May 20 – The direct question-answer session scheduled for Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives has been removed from the agenda following the health-related absence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. According to Shekhar Adhikari, press advisor to Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the prime minister will not be attending the session due to health issues.
A statement issued by the Speaker’s Secretariat reads, “As the Right Honorable Prime Minister will not be able to attend Tuesday’s session due to health reasons, the scheduled ‘Direct Question-Answer Session with the Prime Minister’ has been removed from the agenda.” The House session commenced at 11 a.m. at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.
Due to his ongoing health issues, Monday’s Cabinet meeting was also postponed. Sources indicate that the prime minister has been experiencing mild fever, fatigue, and general weakness, leading doctors to recommend rest. However, no official health bulletin has yet been released regarding the prime minister’s condition.
The question-answer session in Parliament provides an important platform for lawmakers to directly raise issues, seek clarifications, and demand accountability from the head of the executive. The cancellation of such a session is viewed by some political analysts as a temporary setback to parliamentary oversight.
Parliamentarians from various parties, including the main opposition Nepali Congress, have expressed concern and extended best wishes for the prime minister’s speedy recovery. It is expected that the question-answer sessions will resume once the prime minister regains his health and returns to active parliamentary engagement.
