Unilever Nepal Posts Rs. 2,131 Annualised EPS in FY 2081/82; Net Profit Hits Rs. 474.9 Million

Unilever Nepal Limited has announced its unaudited financial results for the fiscal year 2081/82, reflecting a stable performance with slight growth in key indicators despite economic headwinds and market competition.

For the quarter ended Ashadh 2082, the company reported total revenue from operations of Rs. 20.79 crore, a marginal increase compared to Rs. 20.73 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Other income amounted to Rs. 4.47 crore, resulting in total income of Rs. 21.23 crore, nearly unchanged from the previous year’s Rs. 21.23 crore.

Expenses for the quarter were well-controlled, with the cost of materials consumed standing at Rs. 10.79 crore compared to Rs. 10.35 crore a year ago. Employee benefits expenses were slightly lower at Rs. 1.32 crore (from Rs. 1.36 crore), while depreciation and amortisation expenses came in at Rs. 82.1 lakh (down from Rs. 1.04 crore). Finance costs decreased to Rs. 2 lakh from Rs. 4 lakh, and other expenses rose moderately to Rs. 2.91 crore from Rs. 2.79 crore.

The company recorded a profit before tax of Rs. 5.38 crore, compared to Rs. 5.69 crore in the same quarter last year. After accounting for an income tax expense of Rs. 1.13 crore, net profit for the quarter stood at Rs. 4.74 crore, slightly below last year’s Rs. 4.95 crore.

From a balance sheet perspective, total assets increased to Rs. 79.67 crore, up from Rs. 70.80 crore a year earlier. This growth was driven primarily by higher investments in fixed deposits (Rs. 25.80 crore vs. Rs. 21.20 crore) and increased trade receivables (Rs. 14.38 crore vs. Rs. 11.05 crore). Inventories also rose to Rs. 10.90 crore from Rs. 10.19 crore.

On the equity side, share capital remained unchanged at Rs. 921 lakh, while retained earnings increased to Rs. 51.24 crore from Rs. 47.56 crore, reflecting accumulated profits. Net worth per share climbed to Rs. 56,65 from Rs. 52,64, while the company’s P/E ratio stood at 21.75, almost steady from last year’s 22.29.

Liquidity indicators remained strong, with a current ratio of 2.47, ensuring the company’s short-term obligations can be comfortably met. The company’s annualised earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs. 2,131, up slightly from Rs. 2,123 a year earlier.

Management attributed the stable performance to strategic cost management, efficient supply chain operations, and brand strength in key product categories. The company highlighted that growth in fixed deposits and retained earnings provides a solid base for future expansion, although rising input costs and competitive pressures remain challenges.

With a strong liquidity position, growing net worth, and stable profitability, Unilever Nepal is positioned to continue delivering consistent returns to shareholders in the coming fiscal year.
