497 Electric Vehicles Worth Rs. 1.48 Billion Imported via Birgunj in 7 Months, Rs. 963.6 Million Revenue Collected

Imports of electric vehicles through the Birgunj customs point have increased significantly in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. A total of 497 electric jeeps, cars, and vans worth Rs. 1.48 billion were imported, generating Rs. 963.6 million in revenue, marking a sharp rise compared to the same period last year. However, the number of imported electric motorcycles declined despite a total value of Rs. 805.7 million. Meanwhile, imports and revenue from fuel-powered vehicles have decreased. Overall, vehicle and spare parts imports reached Rs. 23.57 billion during the review period, indicating a growing shift toward electric mobility in Nepal.
