Commercial Banks Lower Interest Rates for February 2026

On February 12, 2026, commercial banks in Nepal have announced new interest rates for the month of Falgun, showing a decrease compared to the rates from the month of Magh. The maximum average interest rate for personal fixed deposits has dropped by 0.1155 percentage points, from 4.6845% in Magh to 4.569% in Falgun. Similarly, the maximum average rate for institutional fixed deposits has also decreased by 0.0515 percentage points during the same period.

Out of the commercial banks, 9 banks have lowered their interest rates for personal fixed deposits. Among them, Global IME Bank has reduced its rate by the highest margin of 0.75 percentage points, bringing its interest rate down from 5.5% in Magh to 4.75% in Falgun. Meanwhile, 11 other banks have maintained the same rates as those in Magh.

The highest interest rate on personal fixed deposits for Falgun will be provided by Nepal Bank, offering a maximum of 5.1%. On the other hand, the lowest interest rates are provided by Standard Chartered, Agricultural Development Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Nepal SBI, Everest, and Siddhartha Bank, which are offering a maximum rate of 4.25%.

For institutional fixed deposits, the highest interest rate of 4% will be offered by Himalayan Bank, National Commercial Bank, NIC Asia Bank, and NMB Bank.
