Himalaya Urja’s Profit Rises, Revenue Improves

Himalaya Urja Bikas Company Limited (HURJA) has published its unaudited financial statements up to mid-January (Poush end) of the current fiscal year. According to the report, the company has recorded a modest increase in electricity sales revenue compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, indicating gradual operational improvement.

During the second quarter of the last fiscal year, the company earned NPR 277.3 million from electricity sales. In the corresponding period of the current fiscal year, this income increased to NPR 293.9 million, reflecting a growth of 8.84 percent in electricity sales revenue.

Despite only a moderate rise in revenue, the company’s profitability improved significantly due to a sharp decline in financial expenses. The net profit surged from NPR 68 million to NPR 104.5 million during the review period, marking an impressive growth of 53.74 percent year-on-year.

However, the company’s overall financial performance shows mixed results. Total income declined by 6.04 percent, while operating profit decreased by 5.70 percent. The substantial reduction in financial expenses—down by 49.10 percent—played a key role in strengthening net profitability during the period.

As of mid-January, the company’s paid-up capital stands at NPR 1.98 billion, while its reserve remains negative at NPR 82.4 million. Alongside rising profits, earnings per share increased by NPR 3.69 to reach NPR 10.56. During the same period, the company reported a net worth per share of NPR 95.84 and a price-to-earnings ratio of 21.02 times.
