Nepal Rastra Bank Will Invest Rs. 6.34 Billion in Banks’ Fixed Deposits

Nepal Rastra Bank has decided to invest Rs. 6.34 billion in fixed deposits of banks as part of its liquidity and fund management strategy. The total amount of Rs. 6.34 billion and 17 million, accumulated under various central bank funds, will be placed in term deposits across commercial banks, development banks, and finance companies. The central bank has invited banks and financial institutions to submit their interest rate proposals by midnight of Falgun 17.

Out of the total amount, Rs. 5.07 billion will be invested in commercial banks, Rs. 951.2 million in national-level development banks, and Rs. 317 million in national-level finance companies. According to the central bank, the fixed deposits will be placed for 366 days, from March 13, 2026, to February 13, 2027. The move is expected to support liquidity management and interest rate stability in the banking system.
