NEPSE Climbs on Strong Turnover, Finance Sector Leads Gains

Nepal’s stock market posted a strong gain on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, supported by rising turnover. The benchmark NEPSE index climbed by 31.12 points, or 1.17 percent, to close at 2,672.55 points. Alongside the main index, the Sensitive Index rose by 4.70 points, the Float Index by 2.41 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 1.74 points, reflecting broad-based market strength. Trading activity also improved significantly, with shares worth more than NPR 8.40 billion exchanged through 95,445 transactions involving 338 listed companies.

Four companies—Sagar Distillery, Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta, Shreenagar Agritech Industries, and Gorkha Finance—hit the positive circuit during the session. Central Finance and Gurans Laghubitta recorded gains of nearly 9 percent each, while Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism rose by around 7.5 percent. In contrast, Thri Star Hydropower emerged as the biggest loser, falling by 8.78 percent. In terms of turnover, Manjushree Finance led the market with share transactions exceeding NPR 531.6 million. All 13 sectoral indices closed higher, with the finance sub-index posting the strongest gain of 5.73 percent, followed by notable advances in development banks, hotels and tourism, and manufacturing and processing sectors.
