Bada Dashain begins today, Ghatasthapana auspicious time at 9:16 AM.

The great Hindu festival of Bada Dashain, which starts every year from Ashwin Shukla Pratipada, has officially begun today. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm for 15 days until the full moon of Ashwin Shukla. On the first day of Bada Dashain, Ghatasthapana is observed with traditional rituals in homes.

Ghatasthapana: The auspicious time for Ghatasthapana today was at 9:16 AM. A Kalash (sacred vessel) is placed in the prayer room or Dashain Ghar, invoking Goddess Durga. It is customary to sow barley seeds, known as Jamara, on this day. Pure soil is brought from a clean area, and the ground is prepared with cow dung before planting barley seeds. These are later taken as a symbol of prosperity on Vijayadashami.

Navaratri Worship: During the nine days of Navaratri, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped—Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Each day a different form of the goddess is invoked and worshiped with due rituals.

Vijayadashami Time: The most auspicious time for receiving Tika and Jamara on Vijayadashami, which falls on Ashwin 26, is at 11:36 AM. On this day, devotees accept the blessings of the goddess. The practice of worshiping the goddess and receiving Prasad continues until Kojagrat Purnima.

Dashain symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and divine power over demonic tendencies, celebrated by Hindus with great reverence.
