Historic Record in Share Transactions in Fiscal Year 2081/82

Nepal's securities market witnessed a historic high during the fiscal year 2081/82, with total secondary market transactions reaching a record Rs. 2.12 trillion. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), this marks a 189.23% increase compared to the Rs. 734.68 billion traded in FY 2080/81. The previous highest annual turnover was Rs. 1.45 trillion in FY 2077/78.

Market capitalization also surged significantly. By the end of Ashad 2082, total capitalization stood at Rs. 4.65 trillion — a 31.05% increase from Rs. 3.55 trillion at the end of the previous fiscal year. The total number of listed companies reached 272, though three companies were delisted due to mergers and acquisitions.

Additionally, four new companies were listed through initial public offerings. Altogether, 804.28 million units of securities were listed during the fiscal year — including shares from IPOs, additional issues, government and local distributions, mutual fund units, and institutional bonds.
