Industries to Be Relocated Outside Kathmandu Valley to Reduce Pollution; Land to Be Provided on Free Lease

The Government of Nepal has announced that industries currently operating within the Kathmandu Valley will be relocated outside the valley to help reduce air pollution in the capital.

Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 during the joint session of the Federal Parliament, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel stated that the government is adopting a policy to encourage the relocation of polluting industries to designated industrial zones outside the valley.

To support this initiative, land will be provided on a free lease basis to industries that agree to relocate.

This move is expected to significantly improve the environmental quality of the Kathmandu Valley, enhance public health, and promote balanced industrial development across the country.
