Nepal Securities Board Publishes Report: Recommends Licensing New Stock Exchange and Restructuring Nepal Stock Exchange The Nepal Securities Board has made public a study report on Tuesday, 2081 (2025), concerning the authorization of multiple organized institutions to operate the securities market. The government had already decided to implement the recommendations of this report. On Poush 5, 2081 (December 20, 2024), a cabinet meeting of the Government of Nepal approved the implementation of the report prepared by a study committee led by former Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Chintamani Siwakoti. Following this, the government forwarded the report to the Ministry of Finance with instructions to initiate the implementation process, and the Ministry assigned the responsibility to the Nepal Securities Board. On Tuesday, the Board released the report, which recommends issuing a license for a new stock exchange. Additionally, it highlights the need to restructure the existing Nepal Stock Exchange. The report also provides various legal and operational suggestions. This decision is expected to bring greater stability and diversity to Nepal’s investors and the securities market.
