NRB Calls International Tender to Print NPR 21 Billion Worth of New Banknotes Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has invited international competitive bids to print 420 million units of NPR 50 banknotes, amounting to a total of NPR 21 billion. The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued a notice calling for tenders from pre-qualified international security printers. The contract includes the design, printing, supply, and delivery of the new notes, as part of an international competitive bidding process. Interested pre-qualified companies must submit their bids to the Currency Management Department by 12:00 PM on September 8, 2025. The bids will be opened on the same day at 1:00 PM.

On Thursday, the NEPSE index rose by 3.76 points to close at 2,982.64. Despite the rise in the index, the total daily turnover slightly declined to NPR 18.49 billion from NPR 19.57 billion the previous day.

Bangladeshi Audit Firm Howladar Yunus & Co Selected for Loan Quality Review of 10 Commercial Banks in Nepal Nepal Rastra Bank has selected Bangladeshi audit firm Howladar Yunus & Co, Chartered Accountants, to conduct a Loan Portfolio Review (LPR) of 10 major commercial banks in Nepal. The selection was made under Clause 38(2) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063, following a technical evaluation in which the firm received the highest score. Out of six applicants that submitted proposals in Poush 2081, only Howladar Yunus & Co qualified in the technical evaluation. Subsequently, the financial proposal was opened, and the firm agreed to carry out the review work at NPR 6,254,912.50 (Six Million Two Hundred Fifty-Four Thousand Nine Hundred Twelve Rupees and Fifty Paisa) and USD 271,670.05 (Two Hundred Seventy-One Thousand Six Hundred Seventy Dollars and Five Cents), excluding VAT.

It challenges his use of the titles "Professor" and "Doctor," demanding clarity on which meeting or decision of Kathmandu University granted him those titles.

Shangrila Development Bank Sees 213% Surge in Distributable Profit in Q4 Financial Report Shangrila Development Bank Limited (SADBL) has published its unaudited financial report for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, showing a significant 213.81% increase in distributable profit compared to the same period the previous year. The bank earned NPR 413.8 million in distributable profit by the end of the fiscal year, up from NPR 131.8 million a year earlier. Despite the sharp rise in distributable profit, the net profit grew modestly by 6.51% to NPR 537 million. During the review period, net interest income declined by 1.36%, while fee and commission income increased by 9.15%. Operating income rose by 3.39% and operating profit increased by 10.06%.

Government to Sell Rs. 10 Billion Development Bond Today; Internal Debt Schedule Announced The Public Debt Management Office is auctioning a three-year "Development Bond 2085" worth Rs. 10 billion today (Shrawan 7). The auction will be held from 10 AM to 3 PM, and the bond will be tradable on the Nepal Stock Exchange. The bond offers semi-annual interest payments, is taxable, and can be used as collateral for loans. The government has targeted raising Rs. 362 billion in internal debt this fiscal year. According to the published schedule, Rs. 113 billion will be raised between Shrawan and Asoj, Rs. 85 billion from Kartik to Poush, Rs. 109 billion from Magh to Chaitra, and Rs. 55 billion from Baisakh to Ashad.

NRB to Review Dividend Cap Policy for Microfinance Institutions Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced that it will review the existing policy that restricts microfinance institutions from distributing more than 15% annual dividends (cash or bonus).
