Resource Management Becoming Challenging: Deputy PM Paudel Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has stated that resource management for the country’s overall development is becoming increasingly challenging. Speaking at an event organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal on Tuesday, he highlighted this concern. He urged domestic and foreign private sectors to invest in Nepal, boost production, create jobs, earn profits, pay taxes, and be recognized as exemplary taxpayers. Paudel noted that the government has been fostering an investment-friendly environment through ordinances. “Those ordinances have now become laws. Regulations, guidelines, and standards required under these laws are ready and will soon be approved by the Cabinet,” he said. Paudel emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly climate, adding that Nepal offers ample investment opportunities. “Resource management is a challenge, but we are working to attract investors,” he concluded.

Suryajyoti Life Introduces E-Loan and Digital Card Services Suryajyoti Life Insurance Company Limited has launched new services in Nepal’s insurance sector. The company introduced the ‘Suryajyoti Cares Digital Card’ and ‘Suryajyoti E-Loan’ services for the first time. The launch took place during an event on Monday, officiated by CEO Prakash Bikram Khatri. Khatri explained, “Through the E-Loan service, individuals with life insurance policies can now apply for loans online.” Policyholders who have paid their third installment and completed three years can avail loans up to NPR 50,000. The amount will be deposited into their bank accounts within a few days, with the company claiming this to be a first-of-its-kind service in Nepal. Additionally, the ‘Suryajyoti Cares Digital Card,’ priced at NPR 50, targets policyholders with policies exceeding NPR 5 lakh and agents. It offers discounts at 42 hospitals, QR payment benefits at Alka Hospital, and concessions at fitness centers, cinemas, and shopping malls, as per the company’s agreements.

EV Imports Need Regulation: Santosh Koirala Nepal Bankers Association President Santosh Koirala has stated that not everyone should be allowed to import electric vehicles (EVs). Speaking at the ‘NADA Auto Dialogue’ organized by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, he noted that even companies previously involved in hydropower and agriculture are now importing EVs from China. “The state must decide who can import what kind of EVs,” he said. During a panel discussion on ‘Long-Term Policy for the Auto Sector,’ Koirala emphasized the need to evaluate importers’ infrastructure and EV quality. He raised concerns: “What about battery and technology standards? Is there engineering expertise in Nepal to repair EVs?” He added that banks are grappling with issues like setting down payments at 50%, 60%, or 80% and recovering funds if borrowers abandon EVs after two years. Koirala stressed the urgency for clear policies to regulate EV imports.

Gold Price Drops by 6,900 Rupees Per Tola in Three Days, Falls Further by 400 Rupees Today In the past three days, the price of gold has decreased by 6,900 rupees per tola. On Tuesday, the price dropped by an additional 400 rupees, with the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Federation setting the rate at 174,400 rupees per tola. Prior to this, on Friday, the price of gold had reached an all-time high of 180,300 rupees per tola. The decline in the Nepali market reflects a drop in gold prices in the international market. Meanwhile, the price of silver has remained relatively stable, with trading continuing at 1,830 rupees per tola, unchanged from the previous day.

Hetauda Cement Industry Resumes Production After Five Months After nearly five months of closure, Hetauda Cement Industry has resumed cement production starting today. The industry, which had been shut down due to a lack of electricity, has restarted its operations following the restoration of a stable power supply. According to Acting General Manager Naveen Kumar Karna, the industry requires eight megawatts of electricity daily to crush limestone, a key component in cement production. He stated that the resumption of a consistent power supply has enabled the restart of production. Currently, 1,900 metric tons of coal, necessary for the industry’s operations, have been kept in reserve, while preparations are underway to procure approximately 4,000 metric tons of coal through a tender process in the second phase, Karna added.

NIC Asia Bank Opens Rs 5 Billion Debenture Issue Today NIC Asia Bank Limited is launching the issuance and sale of its ‘7% NIC Asia Debenture 2091’ starting today, Chaitra 25. The 10-year debenture offers an annual interest rate of 7%. The bank plans to issue 5 million units worth Rs 5 billion, with each debenture priced at Rs 1,000. Of this, 60% (3 million units) will be allotted privately, while 40% (2 million units) will be offered to the public, with 100,000 units reserved for mutual funds. Investors can apply for a minimum of 25 units and a maximum of 2.5 million units. The issue will close as early as Chaitra 28 or as late as Baisakh 8, 2082. Prabhu Capital is the issue manager. Applications can be submitted via ASBA services or the ‘Mero Share’ platform. Infomerics Credit Rating Nepal has assigned the bank an ‘IRN BBB+’ rating.
