NEPSE Declines Again, but Turnover Sees Modest Rise

On Wednesday, the NEPSE index continued its downward trend, closing at 2726.33 points, extending the decline seen on Tuesday. The NEPSE index dropped by 15.64 points, while the Sensitive Index decreased by 2.74 points, the Float Index by 1.16 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 0.95 points.

Despite the decline, market turnover showed a slight increase. Compared to Tuesday’s transaction of Rs. 4.43 Arba, Wednesday recorded trades worth over Rs. 4.72 Arba. A total of 113.45 lakh shares of 326 companies were traded through 68,594 transactions.

Him Star Energy’s stock once again hit the positive circuit, rising by Rs. 29.40 to close at Rs. 323.60. Similarly, Union Hydropower surged by 7%, while most other stocks rose by less than 4%. In contrast, Liberty Energy witnessed the steepest fall of the day with a 6.99% drop.

In terms of transaction value, Union Hydropower led the market with trades worth Rs. 33.8 Crores. Liberty Energy followed with around Rs. 27.5 Crores, and Nepal Reinsurance also crossed Rs. 26 Crores in turnover.

Out of 13 sub-indices, only two—Mutual Fund and Trading—closed higher, while 11 sectors declined. Hydropower, Hotels & Tourism, and Development Bank sub-indices posted notable losses.
