Kathmandu, May 29 – The Government of Nepal has allocated NPR 10.19 billion for the midday meal program targeting students up to Grade 5 in the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.

Presenting the budget in the Federal Parliament on Wednesday, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel announced that the program will benefit 2.8 million students across the country.

Additionally, to promote health and hygiene among school-going girls, the government will provide free sanitary pads to female students.

For this initiative, NPR 1.29 billion has been allocated, and it is expected to benefit 1.3 million girls, Minister Paudel said.

These programs aim to improve child nutrition, school attendance, and menstrual health management, especially for girls in public schools.
