Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has increased the daily remittance limit to NPR 2.5 million per day. The Foreign Exchange Management Department of NRB issued a new circular today, revising the existing provision under the Integrated Circular 2081. Previously, the limit was NPR 2 million per day.
According to the new circular, Nepali or foreign nationals, as well as firms, companies, institutions, or branch offices registered in Nepal, can now receive non-repatriable funds such as sales proceeds, commissions, fees, or remuneration from abroad through licensed remittance companies. The funds must be directly deposited into the beneficiary’s account in Nepal.
NRB clarified that, “Up to NPR 2.5 million per day can be remitted either at once or in multiple transactions.”
The decision aims to facilitate business transactions, freelance payments, and foreign income inflows into Nepal, making international payments more convenient and transparent.
