Total Domestic Credit of Monetary Sector Rises by 6.2 Percent

In the fiscal year 2081/82, the total domestic credit of the monetary sector increased by 6.2 percent, according to the data published by Nepal Rastra Bank. This growth is slightly higher than the 6.1 percent recorded in the previous year.

During the review period, the monetary sector’s net claims on the government decreased by 3.4 percent, while in the previous year such claims had increased by 3.8 percent. This indicates a decline in the sector’s direct claims on the government.

On the other hand, the monetary sector’s claims on the private sector grew by 8.1 percent, a notable rise compared to the 6.1 percent growth in the previous year. This reflects a significant expansion in credit flow to the private sector, which is expected to stimulate overall economic activity.
