Finance Ministry Forms Two Rapid Patrol Inspection Teams to Curb Revenue Leakage

The Ministry of Finance has formed two rapid patrol inspection teams to control revenue leakage in various regions of the country. These teams will conduct patrols from Chitwan to the eastern Mechi region and from Chitwan to the western Mahakali region, aiming to help control tax evasion.

• Deployment of Two Teams: The Ministry of Finance has deployed two separate rapid patrol inspection teams, one for the area from Chitwan to Mechi in the east and another from Chitwan to Mahakali in the west.

• Leadership and Coordination: One team will be led by the Deputy Director General of the Inland Revenue Department, while the other will be led by the Deputy Director General of the Customs Department.

• Use of Granted Powers: The teams will be allowed to exercise the powers granted to tax and customs officers according to the law. They have also been instructed to coordinate with and seek assistance from other bodies, as needed, to control revenue leakage.

• Formation as per Action Plan: The formation of the rapid patrol inspection teams was part of the 100-day action plan announced by the Ministry of Finance.

• Decision by Central Committee: The Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee meeting decided to form these rapid patrol inspection teams.

Mahesh Bhattarai, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, stated that the teams would employ various measures and exercise all legal rights to control leakage. This step is expected to play a significant role in controlling revenue leakage.
