17 Construction Companies Blacklisted by the Government The Government of Nepal has blacklisted 17 construction companies for failing to comply with contract agreements and delays in project completion. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers issued a notice on Thursday announcing the decision. According to the PPMO, these companies have been blacklisted for a period ranging from one to two years under Section 63(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 (2006) for violating contract terms, not completing construction work on time, or failing to complete assigned projects.

Nepal Rastra Bank to Halt Sale of Gold Coins This Tihar, Only Silver Medallions Available Kathmandu, October 14 — Targeting the upcoming Tihar (Dhanteras) festival, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced that it will not sell gold coins (Asarfi) this year. Instead, the central bank’s Mint Division (Taksar Mahashakha) will sell silver medallions only, starting from October 12 (Ashwin 26, 2082). According to the NRB Mint Division, the price of the 10-gram Laxmi Medallion has been fixed at Rs. 3,000, and each individual will be allowed to purchase only one piece. Similarly, Ganesh Medallion (10 grams), Gajalaxmi Medallion (10 grams), and Cow Medallion (10 grams) will also be sold at Rs. 3,000 each, limited to one unit per person. All these medallions will be made of pure silver and will be available in limited quantities.

Gold Hits Record High in Nepal — Price Jumps by Rs. 8,100 Per Tola; Silver Also Reaches All-Time High Kathmandu, October 14 — The prices of gold and silver have surged to record highs in the Nepali market on Tuesday. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FNGSJA), the price of hallmark gold has climbed to Rs. 2,48,500 per tola, the highest ever recorded in Nepal. Compared to Monday’s price of Rs. 2,40,400 per tola, gold has increased by Rs. 8,100 per tola in a single day. The federation stated that the continuous rise in international gold prices has directly impacted the domestic market. The global rally has been driven by a weaker U.S. dollar and rising investor demand for gold as a safe-haven asset. Meanwhile, silver prices have also reached a record level. On Monday, silver was priced at Rs. 3,220 per tola, which has now risen to Rs. 3,325 per tola, marking an all-time high.

According to the central bank, these messages are typically part of financial scams designed to steal personal or financial information and cause monetary loss.

NRB Raises Daily Remittance Limit to NPR 2.5 Million Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has increased the daily remittance limit to NPR 2.5 million per day. The Foreign Exchange Management Department of NRB issued a new circular today, revising the existing provision under the Integrated Circular 2081. Previously, the limit was NPR 2 million per day. According to the new circular, Nepali or foreign nationals, as well as firms, companies, institutions, or branch offices registered in Nepal, can now receive non-repatriable funds such as sales proceeds, commissions, fees, or remuneration from abroad through licensed remittance companies. The funds must be directly deposited into the beneficiary’s account in Nepal.

Nepal Rastra Bank Announces Foreign Exchange Rates for Thursday Kathmandu: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has published the official foreign exchange rates for Thursday (October 9, 2025 / Ashwin 23, 2082). According to NRB, the buying rate for one U.S. dollar has been set at Rs. 141.78, and the selling rate at Rs. 142.38. The buying rate for one European Euro is Rs. 164.88 and the selling rate is Rs. 165.58, while the U.K. Pound Sterling stands at Rs. 190.04 for buying and Rs. 190.85 for selling. Similarly, the Swiss Franc is traded at Rs. 177.27 (buying) and Rs. 178.02 (selling). The Australian Dollar is set at Rs. 93.18 for buying and Rs. 93.57 for selling, while the Canadian Dollar stands at Rs. 101.65 and Rs. 102.08, respectively. The Singapore Dollar is quoted at Rs. 109.93 (buying) and Rs. 109.89 (selling).

From Germany to Russia, Nepal Records Trade Surplus: Which Countries Brought Profits? Kathmandu – In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, while Nepal faced trade deficits with most countries, it still managed to record a trade surplus with a handful of nations. According to data from the Department of Customs, Nepal enjoyed positive trade balances with about a dozen countries out of 126 trading partners. The largest surplus came from Germany. Imports from Germany amounted to Rs. 7.16 billion, while exports surged to Rs. 8.72 billion, leaving Nepal with a surplus of more than Rs. 1.56 billion. Major exports to Germany included handmade carpets, garments, handicrafts, and tea and coffee products. Nepal also posted a notable surplus with Russia. Imports during the two-month period were just Rs. 9 million, while exports crossed Rs. 310 million, generating a surplus of over Rs. 220 million.
