Constitution Day and National Day 2082 is being marked across the country today with various programs. The main ceremony was held this morning at 8:30 AM at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, with President Ram Chandra Paudel as the chief guest.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki is scheduled to address the ceremony. However, considering the current special political circumstances, cultural displays and processions have been suspended this year.
Nepal’s Constitution was promulgated on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS (September 20, 2015), through the Constituent Assembly, as a historic achievement of the Nepali people’s long struggle and sacrifices. The Constitution, prepared after extensive discussions and disputes in the second Constituent Assembly, was formally announced by then President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at the International Convention Center, New Baneshwor.
Since then, the day has been observed annually as National Day, symbolizing the democratic struggle, sacrifices, and unity of the Nepali people.
