Construction Contract Signed for Jagdulla Hydropower Project in Dolpa, Target to Generate 106 MW Within Five Years

The construction process of the 106 MW Jagdulla Hydropower Project in Dolpa has formally moved forward. The promoter company, Jagdulla Hydropower Company Limited, has signed a construction contract worth Rs. 12.18 billion with JCE/ANK JV. The project, considered vital for the economic growth and prosperity of Karnali Province, is now set to gain momentum.
According to the company’s CEO, Sanjay Sapkota, the promoter had invited bids for the construction of civil and hydromechanical structures on June 2, 2024 (2081 Jestha 20). Under the agreement, Nabil Bank will invest Rs. 4.40 billion, while Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL) and the Employees Provident Fund will each invest Rs. 4 billion.
Similarly, Laxmi Sunrise Bank will invest Rs. 2 billion, and Everest Bank will invest Rs. 1.50 billion. The project’s total estimated cost is Rs. 23 billion, of which Rs. 16 billion will be financed through loans and Rs. 7 billion from equity.
As per the agreement, the goal is to complete construction and begin electricity generation within five years, contributing significantly to the energy development of Karnali Province.
