Non-Banking Assets of Commercial Banks Surge by 62%, Global IME Tops the List

The non-banking assets of Nepal's commercial banks increased by 62.08% by the end of Baisakh in the current fiscal year 2081/82, reaching NPR 38.48 billion. During the same period last year, such assets stood at NPR 23.74 billion.

According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank, Global IME Bank holds the highest amount of non-banking assets, totaling NPR 5.95 billion. Himalayan Bank ranks second with NPR 5.12 billion in non-banking assets.

NIC Asia Bank is in third place with NPR 4.60 billion. Likewise, Nabil Bank has NPR 3.79 billion, Nepal Investment Mega Bank NPR 3.11 billion, Kumari Bank NPR 2.55 billion, and Prime Commercial Bank NPR 2.36 billion in non-banking assets.

Laxmi Sunrise, Prabhu, NMB, Citizens, and Agricultural Development Bank all have non-banking assets exceeding NPR 1 billion. Machhapuchchhre Bank’s assets exceed NPR 9 billion, while both Nepal SBI Bank and Sanima Bank have over NPR 8 billion in such assets.

Standard Chartered Bank is reported to have zero non-banking assets. Among all banks, Nepal Bank has the lowest non-banking assets, amounting to just NPR 200 million, according to the central bank's report.
