NRB Calls for Institutional Deposit Proposals Worth Rs. 600 Million

Nepal Rastra Bank has invited proposals from banks and financial institutions to invest Rs. 600 million from the Grant and Pension Fund as institutional deposits. The deposit term is 366 days — from Shrawan 4, 2082 to Shrawan 4, 2083 — and proposals must be submitted by Ashad 29. Of the total amount, Rs. 480 million is allocated for commercial banks, Rs. 90 million for development banks, and Rs. 30 million for finance companies. Interested institutions must mention the desired deposit amount and interest rate in their proposals.

Eligible institutions must have completed at least two years of operation. They must also meet several financial criteria: maintain the minimum required capital (including buffer), have total NPLs below 8% and net NPLs below 3%, and possess a minimum 20% net liquid asset ratio against local deposits. Additionally, institutions must not have been penalized, declared problematic, or under regulatory action by NRB within the last six months. This move aims to ensure stable and secure placement of institutional funds within the banking system.
