Private Sector Ready to Invest More If Security Is Ensured: FNCCI President Dhakal

Chitwan, Nepal — President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has stated that Nepal’s private sector is ready to make further investments if the government ensures security and a favorable investment climate.

Speaking at a program organized on Saturday during the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President Dhakal said FNCCI would also play a coordinating role in promoting investment. He emphasized that the private sector should be viewed with respect and not suspicion.

Dhakal noted that a prevailing tendency to portray businesspeople and investors as feudal elites has increasingly placed the private sector at the center of protests. Highlighting the private sector’s significant contribution to employment generation and the national economy, he stressed that the government must create a secure and investor-friendly environment.

“The government should ensure an environment where investors can confidently invest, pay taxes, and contribute to national income,” Dhakal said.

During the program, leaders from various political parties also acknowledged the crucial role of industrialists and business communities in Nepal’s economic development. They stated that ensuring a safe and secure environment for investment is the government’s responsibility.

The convention of the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry is scheduled to conclude on Monday with the election of new leadership for a two-year term.
