Government Expenditure Exceeds Rs 6 Trillion in Six Months

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, the government's total expenditure has reached Rs 6.67 trillion. This accounts for 35.89% of the total allocated budget of Rs 18.60 trillion. Compared to the same period last year, spending has increased by 17.66%. The government has spent Rs 6.18 trillion on resources, while foreign grants have amounted to Rs 77.1 billion.

In the same period, government revenue collection reached Rs 5.67 trillion, which is 84.33% of the semi-annual target. Internal debt mobilization amounted to Rs 538.1 billion, while Rs 1.82 trillion was spent on debt repayment. A total of Rs 4.02 trillion was allocated for public debt servicing. The Ministry of Finance also reported that development assistance commitments have reached Rs 2.05 trillion so far.
