Government Focused on Boosting Private Sector Confidence: Finance Minister Poudel

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel stated that the government is actively working to boost the confidence of the private sector. Speaking at a pre-budget discussion held at Singha Durbar on Saturday, he emphasized that it is incorrect to claim the government has neglected the private sector.

"The government is fully focused on strengthening the morale of the private sector," he said. "We are well aware that the economy cannot progress without uplifting the confidence of the private sector, which holds an 80% share in the national economy."

He added that legal provisions have already been introduced through an ordinance to address long-standing issues faced by the private sector. “We’ve maintained a close and active collaboration with the private sector. Issues that remained unresolved for decades have now been addressed via ordinance, based on input from the private sector,” he said.

Finance Minister Poudel also remarked on the topic of socialism in Nepal. “There is no socialism in Nepal yet, and it’s not coming anytime soon. True socialism is still far off. For that, the country must first achieve economic prosperity, ensure equal access for all citizens, and eliminate all forms of discrimination,” he stated.

He hinted that the upcoming budget will include private-sector-friendly policies aimed at promoting economic stability and long-term prosperity.
