NPR 25 Billion Nepal Rastra Bank Debenture Auction Taking Place Today

Nepal Rastra Bank is conducting the auction and issuance of a one-year debenture worth NPR 25 billion today, December 31, 2025 (Poush 16, 2082). The bidding process will remain open until 2:00 PM, with the interest rate to be determined through competitive bidding. The debenture offers semi-annual interest payments, while the principal will be repaid at maturity on December 31, 2026.
Only licensed Class A, B, and C banks and financial institutions are eligible to participate in today’s auction. The minimum bid amount is NPR 50 million, and bids can be submitted in multiples thereof up to the total issue size. While the debenture can be used as collateral, it will not be eligible for Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) requirements, though it will qualify under the Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR) and Net Liquid Asset Ratio frameworks as per regulatory provisions.
