Leader of the main opposition party and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' has accused the government of attempting to issue new stock exchange licenses based on commission. Addressing the parliament on Thursday, he demanded that such an important economic institution’s license should be awarded through open competition. He also criticized the government's policies, stating that they have increased both internal and external debt, adding a long-term tax burden on future generations. Furthermore, he accused the government of presenting misleading economic data and indulging in self-satisfaction rather than actual progress.
Prachanda pointed out the government's failure in infrastructure development, mentioning that the progress of the Siddhababa Tunnel stands at only 40.18%, while the Narayanghat road section has reached just 53.3% completion. He also criticized the low capital expenditure, which is only 16%, and blamed the government for its inability to issue contracts for new projects, raising serious concerns about its overall working approach.
