Finance Minister Khanal Emphasizes Need for a Simplified and Transparent Tax System to Boost Investment

Finance Minister Khanal Emphasizes Need for a Simplified and Transparent Tax System to Boost Investment Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal has acknowledged that Nepal’s current tax system is complicated and burdensome, making it difficult to attract meaningful investment. Speaking at an interaction program organized by the Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bhairahawa, he stressed that Nepal’s economic bottleneck is not the size of the budget, but rather the ability to spend it effectively. He noted that development plans often remain stalled due to procedural hurdles and emphasized the need for simplification across all administrative levels. Strengthening transparency and accountability in public spending and project execution, he said, is essential for restoring confidence among investors and taxpayers.

India Signs Significant LPG Supply Agreement with the United States

India Signs Significant LPG Supply Agreement with the United States India has signed a significant annual agreement with the United States to secure approximately 10% of its LPG supply. This move has been described as an important step toward the sustainable diversification of India’s energy sources. Earlier, in August, relations between the two countries had become tense after U.S. President Donald Trump increased tariffs on India by up to 50%. Tensions further escalated when U.S. officials accused India of indirectly supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine. President Trump claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had agreed to cut imports of Russian crude oil as a precondition for a potential trade deal, though India has not formally confirmed this claim. Despite disagreements over issues like agricultural trade and Russian oil purchases, discussions between New Delhi and Washington have continued.

How Stock Prices Are Determined — The Balance Between Supply and Demand

How Stock Prices Are Determined — The Balance Between Supply and Demand The stock market fundamentally operates on the law of supply and demand. When more investors seek to buy a company’s shares, prices rise. Conversely, when more investors sell, prices fall. This balance is the foundation of market price movements. According to market analysts, factors such as a company’s performance, investor psychology, and the broader economic environment also influence prices. When large institutional investors place massive buy orders and sellers are insufficient, the price often rises temporarily. Later, as the market rebalances, the price stabilizes again.
